Let’s say you’re Steve Ballmer, Michael Dell, Meg Whitman, Larry Page, or Intel’s Paul Otellini. How are you feeling today, a day after Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the new iPad? Are you discounting the device as just an incremental improvement, the same shiny tablet with a better screen and faster cellular access? Or is it possible you had trouble sleeping last night? Did you toss and turn, worrying that Apple’s new device represents a potential knockout punch, a move that will cement its place as the undisputed leader of the biggest, most disruptive new tech market since the advent of the Web browser? Maybe your last few hours have been even worse than that. Perhaps you’re now paralyzed with confusion, fearful that you might be completely boxed in by the iPad — that there seems no good way to beat it.

The report, which was issued on Wednesday, said companies building products to compete with the iPad have slowed production by as much as 10 percent since this time last March. At that time, the report said,  competing tablet companies created 81 million tablets; this year the number has fallen to 73 million.

Dell Streak is basically a device that exists between a smartphone and other larger tablets or netbooks that you might be using right now…

With a five-inch (12.5-centimeter) screen, the Streak is smaller than the Apple iPad… Apple’s iPad has a 9.7-inch (24.6-centimeter) color screen… The company did not announce prices for the device, which connects to the internet through Wi-Fi or 3G cellular networks…

Hardware-wise, the Dell Streak features the following:

• A sharp 5-inch capacitive multi-touch WVGA (800×480) display for a great full-screen experience watching video or browsing the web
• Fast 1GHz Snapdragon ARM-based mobile processor from Qualcomm
• 5 MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash that offers easy point & shoot capability and quick uploads to YouTube, Flickr, Facebook and more
• VGA front-facing camera enables video chat functionality down the road
• A user-removable (and replaceable) battery
• A 3.5mm headphone jack means many of you can use the Dell Streak as the music source (and more) in your car
• Integrated 3G + Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) + Bluetooth 2.1 (think headsets, external keyboards, stereo headsets, etc.)
• UMTS / GPRS / EDGE class 12 GSM radio with link speeds of HSDPA 7.2 Mbps / HSUPA
• A user-accessible Micro SD slot expandable up to 32GB. That means you can store  lots of movies, music, photos or other kinds of files.

On the software side, here’s what you can expect:

• A customized multi-touch version of the Google Android operating system that features Dell user interface enhancements
• Access to over 38,000  apps (and growing) via the Android Marketplace
• Microsoft Exchange connectivity and integration through TouchDown
• Google Voice support
• Integrated Google Maps with voice-activated search, turn-by-turn navigation, street and satellite views
• Quick access to activity streams via integrated social network app widgets like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube

In summary, Jobs pointed out that Flash is proprietary, insecure and unreliable, a drain on battery life and not optimized for touch screens… He said Adobe’s claims of providing the “full Web” with Flash are increasingly irrelevant as more sites come up with alternatives, and that banning iPhone app development in Flash will result in better apps because Apple retains control over new features and innovations…

Outlining these points Jobs closed by saying :

We know from painful experience that letting a third-party layer of software come between the platform and the developer ultimately results in substandard apps and hinders the enhancement and progress of the platform.

Flash is a cross platform development tool. It is not Adobe’s goal to help developers write the best iPhone, iPod and iPad apps. It is their goal to help developers write cross platform apps. And Adobe has been painfully slow to adopt enhancements to Apple’s platforms. For example, although Mac OS X has been shipping for almost 10 years now, Adobe just adopted it fully (Cocoa) two weeks ago when they shipped CS5. Adobe was the last major third-party developer to fully adopt Mac OS X.

Looks like the war of words won’t stop just like that… It’s as if both sides are implying that “It’s our device and we can do with it what we please.” But the meaning of that statement is completely different depending on who says it…

I know numerous people who just have to buy the latest thing Apple has to offer… One of these Apple nerds bought the latest iTouch even though he had got the newest iPhone just a month back… Couple of them have to buy ever iPod that comes out, just to through the last one on eBay or Amazon… This sort of fanatical behaviour is an obsession with people…

Oscar Wilde once said “I have the simplest of tastes, I am always satisfied with the best”

But still why waste so much money on it??? Now we have people waiting in line all night buying multiple iPads… So why are people so mad about what Apple cooks ???

Looks like its Adobe’s reply to Steve Job’s comment that “They are lazy”… This move is like a knockout punch for Apple as there tablet(iPad) has no support for flash…

Steve Jobs took the stage today and officially introduced his iPad to the world… It appears as if the iPhone got the super-size treatment, complete with a home button….

At only half an inch thin, and sporting a 9.7″ screen, the iPad weighs in at only one and a half pounds…. It’s powered by Apple’s very own chip(A4)… Available with 16, 32, or 64GB flash storage, and has 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. Oh, and you can run it for 10 hours while watching videos….

Surprising for Apple, NO built-in camera… This is one feature you would expect from Apple…. There is also no microphone, so programs like Skype, iChat etc. are out of the question for now anyway…. This was surprising for me to hear as there will be a 3G model, so i  assume you can insert a SIM card, therefore  it would have been nice to have the option to use the iPad as a mobile phone..

You will be able to use iWork with the iPad but this does not come standard with the iPad and can be bought separately from the App store… The SDK already downloadable on Apple’s homepage, maybe there will be a Microsoft office coming soon…

As for pricing of the device itself, it starts at $499, which is a very low cost of entry…. It will get you the 16GB base model without 3G… $599 will get you the 32GB Wi-Fi only model, and $699 will bump you up to 64GB… With 3G, the prices are $629, $729 and $829 respectively for the different storage capacities….

Apple also announced the release of the new iBooks store where you’ll be able to purchase visual books… The new iBook store looks visually mesmerizing with rich colors and Accessibility built in meaning you could have text read to you..
