Features Needed on Android…

July 15th, 2010

Andriod is a great smartphone operating system no doubt… I’m sure that it is the only competitor to the iPhone and in couple of years time would definitely overtake the IPhone OS… Google hasn’t yet announced anything about Andriod 3.0 aka Gingerbread and I don’t think they are going to say anything about it as Froyo is still too fresh to be updated… Still here are some of my views that should be added to Android 3.0 for sure…

Android is great, promising and absolutely powerful if and only if they keep enhancing and updating it. Android is good but still need a lot of work and enhancements to go through the same track of iPhone, not to copy it but to provide us better features than the iPhone.

Android App : Google Translate for Animals!!!

April 1st, 2010

Looks like what Darwin wasn’t able to do, Google has done it with an Android App… ;)

Google today released Translate for Animals on the Android Market, marking the groundbreaking app that finally lets us humans communicate with our two-, three- and four-legged brethren…

The revolutionary applications — which is free, despite the centuries of development time — translates the speech of cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, Guinea pigs, hamsters, tortoises, horses, chickens, sheep, donkeys and pigs. Support for snakes, goats, bison and wildebeests is expected in a future update, slated for sometime in the the second half of 2010…

If you visit Google, they have a video explaining just how the Translate for Animals Android App works…

Symbian goes FOSS!!!

February 4th, 2010

Symbian 3 (the successor of previous Symbian versions, S60, S40 and others), the new version of Symbian OS, will mark the change of Symbian from being a closed OS platform to become an Open Source platform where anyone can download and modify it for free… The source code is published under the Eclipse Public License (EPL)…

We’re a community, not a company, owned by members not any one entity. — Symbian

I think the move comes seeing the increase in the popularity of likes of Android OS from Google and the iPhone OS from Apple who had slowly started stealing the limelight from Symbian…

But I seriously think Symbian is way late to gain back its popularity here… Should have released its code long time ago..

An Apple or A Google Fan???

October 30th, 2009

I came across this article today which speaks quite highly of Apple, and I thought I’d drop some thoughts on this topic as well. These days i’m trying my hand on programming for the iPhone, learning to use MacOS, Xcode and even the iPhone have been interesting experiences. I’m an Apple newbie(though being using Ipod for years now), but perhaps it’s that what gives me a unique viewpoint of the whole situation. Read the rest of this entry »

Android Live CD!!!

July 19th, 2009

If you have been interested in checking out what Google Android is all about without downloading the SDK or buying a G-1, here is a great solution.

andriod

Google Code has a project named live-android which provides you with a Live CD of
Google Android
.
Just grab the ISO, burn it on a CD or try it on a virtual machine like Virtual Box. The project is still in it’s infancy and there are a few stability issues here and there.

Check it out : Android Live CD.
