Thoughts on Mac App Store…

I am a great fan of apps like anyone else and i admit that the iOS App Store was the deal maker and the first reason why the iPhone family is successful… I my very happy with my iPhone because when i want an app, I don’t have to Google about it, I just go to the App Store and get the desired app… This is more than fine and awesomely stunning to have, my apps are stored with my account and everything is nice… But let me say that the experience with Mac is way different with a lot of perspectives and problems…

The issue is all about Trials… I used to try apps before I purchase and that’s because I don’t want to spend my money on an app that I will hate… The point here is how the developer(s) describe the app and obviously if I was a developer I will bring a poet to speak about my apps nicely… Check every single app description and I promise you to find a lot of nice words but when you try the app you will find it a total fail and surely not useful or at least it does not support some features… This is not only about small apps, it’s about all kinds of software no matter who is behind it…But with the Mac App Store this is not possible… You can not try the app before paying for it. It look like Apple doesn’t care about its customers and wants us to pay whether we like the app or not…

For now the apps published in the Mac App Store are not that much, but over time we will end up with the fact that Google is no longer a solution to search for an app you want, but instead you will go to the Mac App Store and search whatever you need and buy…

I don’t want to hide it but I was very happy when they announced the Mac App Store but I thought that they are going to handle the “Trial Period” issue but as I see, for now there is no signs or news mentioning that which is a big disappointment… This problem will also affect developers as well, users refuse to buy for unknown app and developers will throw their apps inside an ocean of other or similar apps, the battle will continue and no one will win it, both parties will lose it and the only one who is going to win and practically collect money is Apple…

I’m not against Apple because I use their products, but I hate the fact that Apple is controlling everything, we can’t move, think or even imagine other ways to do things, only the Apple way and you either accept and follow their rules or stop and don’t use… For this problem, there is intermediate solution to provide what the Mac App Store is not offering and that’s the gap Apple is not trying to understand…

After all, it’s not weird to here about the Jailbreak of the Mac App Store, It least if you hate pirated apps then you can try apps freely from “Cydia for Mac” and then for purchase. Personally, I would love to see Cydia moving to the Mac and absolutely I will use and support it and participate in beta tester program and give it enough time to send as many feedback as possible. Finally, Apple should not feel angry at all.
