Webcam not working in Ubuntu 8.10 for Dell XPS M1530!!!!!

When i updated from hardy(8.04) to ibex(8.10) don’t know for some reason my webcam stopped working in Cheese because it worked out of the box without any problems in hardy. Looks like there is some bug in ubuntu which the geeks are trying to fix but I got a work around while surfing the web through a post in ubuntu forum.
You just need to type the following lines in the terminal and download a package uvcvideo.

Open the terminal and type:
sudo apt-get install subversion
sudo apt-get install build-essentials (If compiler tools are not installed)
svn checkout svn://svn.berlios.de/linux-uvc/linux-uvc/trunk
cd trunk
make

Now type the following command:
sudo install uvcvideo.ko -v -m644 /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/media/video/uvc/uvcvideo.ko &&
sudo make install &&
sudo cp -av /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/media/video/uvc/uvcvideo.ko /lib/modules &&
sudo depmod -ae $(uname -r)

Just copy and paste the command.

reboot and launch Cheese.

If you have any problems just comment. :)
